The Logitech QuickCam software is limited to 15fps for a few reasons and one is that it would chew up a lot of disk space if we (Logitech) supported 30 fps as the video files would be considerably larger in size. The other is that there is no real benefit to the user, the 15fps is sufficient for sending good quality; small transfer sized video. We (Logitech) are producing a software that is consumer friendly and easy (one click email) to use. Third party software is usually focused on just making the thing work with all known features of a camera (e.g. Adobe and images) This higher end type of software is where you would see 30 fps support.

On the package we (Logitech) list the camera (hardware) will support 30 fps, we (Logitech) do not state that the software will. On the side note, Logitech also will not recommend any software which can support 30fps on their cameras.

• The "Supported Profiles" on Logitech website are the games that the keyboard will be able to provide macros and automatic detection for out of the box. They are not games that have LCD Applets included.

• There are currently no publicly released color LCD applets. Several major companies currently have the Mac and PC SDKs available to them, and they will announce G19 support when they have included it in their game

• The PC SDK is currently available in the LGPS 3.01 download from Logitech.com. The Mac SDK is in it's final states of development for public release, and will be avialable shortly.

• The reason the Mac download is so much larger than the PC download is because it contains both flash files for the G13 and G19. Future download releases, once the software is available on the CD, will not include these and will be much smaller.

• The Youtube and RSS viewer are currently PC only applets. Logitech is looking at how to efficiently bring these over to have full Mac integration.

• If there are perfomance decreases from the LCD Picture Viewer, it is recommended for the user to either uncheck the application as Active in the LCD Manager application, or set the transition type to "None".

• Logitech is looking at how to improve performance of the Color LCD applets on the Macintosh. If there is an applet that is currently using too much bandwith, please disable it in the LCD Manager Application.

• The LCD Picture and Movie viewers must be pointed to a specific directory if the user stores theirs in a non-default location.

• The LCD Picture and Movie viewers can only show media files supported by the native codecs in the computer, and are unencrypted. For example, the G19 cannot display movies purchased off the iTunes music store (If Apple were to make a LCD Viewer addition to iTunes using Logitech SDK, they might be able to achieve video playback on the screen, but this would have to be undertaken by a 3rd party).

• The LCD Screen on the G19 is capable of displaying "classic" monochrome LCD applets for the G13/G15.

• The "Game Mode" switch will now light up when enabled

• The hub is a full USB 2.0 hub

• The device requires AC power to be plugged into the keyboard to function fully. There is a LED near where the cable comes into the keyboard that will be lit when the device has AC power and has been connected to a PC.

• Color of the LED Backlighting is controlled in the G-Key Profiler

• This unit can do profile saving and memory like the G13

Searching all over the internet to find updated drivers? I'm sure most of the people out there have one common syndrome called "Keeping up with the Joneses". We all want the latest, best, up-to-date, geekiest thingy that our neighbor has. Well, it doesn't necessary have to be something physical that you can see or own; we are brought up in a society with this type of mentality. Every time we see someone having something new, we tend to either get jealous or drool.

Ok, so let's get down to the main topic - When should you update your Logitech drivers? Here I will provide some simple guidelines on whether you should update or not.

When you SHOULD update:
- You are getting software errors / software not working properly all the time
- Your Operating System no longer supports the older software
- You got a newer Logitech equipment which is not supported on the older software
- When you are advised to update by Logitech support

When you SHOULD NOT update:
- You experience no software errors
- Your Logitech equipments are functioning normally

What do newer software offer?
- Fix bugs in previous software
- Add / remove configuration or features
- Support for newer released products
- Newer look and feel
- New support for newer version of Operating System

What don't newer software offer?
- Support for legacy devices (products from x years ago will still not be supported)
- Offer more enhancement functionality to your current product (mouse will not perform any better)


As they say in the first law of engineering - If it is not broken, don't fix it! For example, I've seen a lot of cases when the G5 mouse is not having any issues, the fella go and update the firmware thinking that it will improve the performance. In the end, he corrupted the firmware and the mouse becomes completely useless.

Even when you are updating your Logitech software, I recommend to download the whole software package, remove the current software then install the newer software. Never try to update the software via the "update" link from Logitech software because most of the time it does not install correctly and in the end corrupts your whole program. Clean install is the way for updating software.

So remember, newer is not always better. If everything is working fine for you, just stick with it and it will serve you well for a long time to come.

Here are some of the important tips to consider before purchasing your Logitech product. Also some guidelines on which products that suits your needs.

Ok, this is one of the most popular issues that can happen to an owner of Logitech cordless desktop sets. For example, you bought a Logitech Cordless Desktop EX110, EX90, MX3200, etc.. Everything was working perfectly fine during the past 3 months and all of a sudden after a battery change, keyboard will not work! The funny thing is that the mouse is still functional!

What could go wrong for a desktop set imbued with Logitech's SecureConnect Technology? Logitech claims that you will never need to do manual connection again after the first connection. Normally if you are experiencing this issue, even by doing manual connection will not get the keyboard to connect. What can cause the keyboard to have lost sync with the receiver? Let's explore some of the possible causes and some simple steps to rectify the problem.

Corrupted encryption data in keyboard
A battery change could have corrupted the encryption data stored in the keyboard. No matter how you try to reconnect your devices, due to the corrupted data; the receiver cannot recognize the data from the keyboard.

Corrupted encryption data in receiver
Plugging and unplugging the receiver may have a slight chance of corrupting the encryption data stored in the receiver. Pretty much like unplugging an active thumb drive from the USB port.

Clash of the same RFID
Chances are very slim but if there are other people within the same frequency range using the same keyboard with the exact same RFID. I doubt this will happen but who knows.

Encryption data not matching
Your keyboard is securely encrypted. However, the receiver is lost or damaged to a point that you have obtained another similar receiver for who knows how you did it. Due to the encryption not matching the previous one stored in the keyboard, the receiver will not connect to the keyboard.

There are definitely more possibilities but let's just look at what we can do to fix the problem. Since both the devices are encrypted, let's decrypt them. When you decrypt the devices, it simply means that enhanced security features will temporarily be disabled. This will allow both the devices to reconnect. Perform these steps in exact order for decryption:

1. If you have Logitech software installed. e.g. SetPoint. Exit it via the system tray by right-clicking and selecting "Exit". If you do not know how to do so, just remove all Logitech software from your computer.

2. Make sure your keyboard has fresh alkaline batteries installed and the polarities are correct.

3. Press Left Alt + Left Ctrl + F12 together on your keyboard and release. Note the bold lefts.

4. Press connect button on the receiver and release.

5. Press connect button underneath the keyboard and release.

6. Press ESC key on your keyboard.

If you have done the steps correctly, your keyboard should now be connected. If not, perform the decryption steps a couple more times will help. Sometimes changing the receiver to a different USB port after the steps will help too.

Once you got your keyboard to work, it's a good idea to re-encrypt the signals. Just install or launch SetPoint and perform step number 3 from above will allow you follow the on-screen instructions to encrypt your signals.

I'm sure many would like to know how to change the wireless channel for their Logitech devices. Legacy (older) Logitech cordless devices have the option of changing the RF signal from the Logitech software iTouch and MouseWare. Usually switching between channel 1 and channel 2. However, these options are removed with newer Logitech wireless devices.

Here is the breakdown of RF technologies that Logitech wireless devices are using
Legacy wireless devices - 27MHz RF (2 channels)
Current wireless devices - 27MHz Fast RF (2 channels)
Current entry level to high-end wireless devices - 2.4GHz (24 channels)
Current high-end wireless devices - 2.4GHz eQuad (24 channels)
Current high-end wireless devices - 2.4GHz Bluetooth (79 channels)

As mentioned before, only Logitech's legacy wireless devices allows you to change their wireless channel via the Logitech software. How are we able to do the same for the current ones? Actually it's pretty simple - You just need to re-synchronize them. Every time you re-connect the wireless devices, they will switch to a different channel.

Hardware wise, keyboard and mouse should work like normal since they are dependent on Microsoft Windows' generic HID (Human Interface Device) drivers. Software wise, no. Logitech only develops software drivers for Win95, Win98, WinMe, WinXP, Win Vista.

Which means if you bought a very advanced Logitech mouse which requires software installation to make all the buttons work, you are out of luck if you intend to use it on a server based OS. You can only use it as a generic 2 button mouse.

No matter how you pester Logitech customer support for the software, nothing will be done. The engineers will not waste time and money coding and debugging for something which is not mainstream. Mainstream in a sense that not even 5% of the consumers are using server based OS. Instead of wasting time bugging their lives, you should visit support forums with users with similar requests.

Here is a very informative workaround by a user a user named "Lucida" in Logitech's support forums with a workaround to install SetPoint 4.6 in Windows Server 2008.

"So here is the quick guide for x86. There isn't any rocket science or magic involved, Logitech has done a quite good job and the "fix" is rather easy.

1. Install Setpoint 4.6
2. You'll need a dual-boot setup -- i.e, Vista or XP w/Setpoint 4.6 installed. XP or Vista doesn't matter as they share exactly same driver.
so find this folder:

%XP_or_Vista_Driver%\Program Files\Common Files\Logishrd\CDDRV2

and run LDPINST.exe from Server 2008.

There is no need to copy the whole folder to Server2008, just run LDPINST.exe, which will find Logitech products and update the drivers.

However, do note that the suggestions are not officially from Logitech so it may not work for everyone.

I believe every single problem has its causes. I am also a strong believer that not all problems can be solved.

Let's explore what could cause speakers to buzz. Every single soul who owns a set of multimedia speakers or any other audio systems will experience their device to be buzzing at least once in a lifetime. Don't believe me? Try putting your cell phone beside the satellite and before you receive a call or message, your satellite started to buzz and your monitor screen flickers.

Ok maybe that was not such a good example. Well, it was at least the fundamental idea of what could be causing the buzz - Interference. You may be asking this: "I don't have any cell phones or other cordless phones anywhere near my speakers. But I still hear buzzing." Remember, interference comes in many forms. If you experience the buzzing without any cordless devices near you, it could be coming from other places. Let's explore some of the other possibilities.

The most common interference or the cause of buzzing would be due to the electrical wiring or cabling in your house. This would consist 70% of the overall buzzing problems faced by Logitech speakers owners. I will try to explain this in the most Layman term as possible as I can.

If cabling is not grounded properly during construction, there are no terminating points for the electrical signals to "stop". Instead, it just kept bouncing back and forth colliding with one another. This creates current instability within your electrical wiring and increases the interference picked up by electrical appliances or devices. Ever experienced light dimming, flickering or speakers making a popping sound when you flipped a switch? Since the grounding is not done properly, this creates an electrical "spike"within the current and that's what causes the anomaly.

If you experienced any of those then it is possible that your house or apartment do not have proper electrical cabling installation. Chances of experiencing speakers buzzing is also higher. Since speakers have built in amplifiers, all interferences are amplified. This also explains why certain other electrical appliances may not exhibit such problems.

Here are some simple troubleshooting steps that you can perform to fix the problem:
- If experience speakers buzzing, try to disconnect the cables from your computer and connect just the power. Turn on the speakers.
- If buzzing persists, electrical problem is 80%
- Try to connect the speakers to a different power socket in a different room.
- If buzzing persists, most likely you have connected to the same power strip/ line. Try again in a different room upstairs.
- If buzzing persists, most likely the whole house is affected.
- Get an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) or Surge Protector and connect the speakers. Usually this will rectify the buzzing problem.
- If problem persists then it could be a bad unit. Contact Logitech at this point for a resolution.
